Volunteer Positions
Referee
Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older and out of high school. Previous experience preferred.
Description: "Referees observe matches, identify rule infractions, "call them", and participate in deliberations regarding contested calls. Work under the direction of the Head Referee. They play a critical role in ensuring a positive, fair environment with a smooth flow of match play, and maintaining the pace of the event. This role is physically active role positioned on the perimeter of the playing field." - FIRST®
Job will include:
Field Reset
Requirements: High School Aged or older. No prior experience needed. Moderate physical activity.
Description: "Field Repair-Reset volunteers for FIRST Robotics Competition repair and reset the playing field after each team match. Plays a critical role in ensuring smooth flow of match play and maintaining pace of the event. Duties need to be done efficiently. This position is normally very physically active." - FIRST®
Job will include:
Field Tear-Down
Requirements: Must be able to stay after competition ends. High School Aged or older. High physical activity.
Description: "Field Disassembly volunteers for FIRST Robotics Competition assist with disassembly of the competition playing field ... on event break-down day." - FIRST®
Job will include:

Job will include:
- Participating in discussions with Head Referee and other Referees to determine official penalty or scoring rulings
- Monitoring/promoting safe practices on and around the playing field
- Observing matches, "calling" rule infractions

Job will include:
- Replacing game pieces and field elements to their starting position after the conclusion of each match.
- Checking for and removing debris left by robots.
- Checking for runs and loose seams in the carpet, applying and removing tape as necessary.
- Open and close gates for robot entrance and departure.
- Ensuring the safety of surrounding participants in case of game pieces exiting the playing field.
Field Tear-Down
Requirements: Must be able to stay after competition ends. High School Aged or older. High physical activity.

Job will include:
- Disassembling playing field and electronics and pack in travel crates
- Assisting in loading travel crates and carpet rolls onto truck, as needed
